Rare British New Zealand War Medal - Identified

1/13/25 - This is a great example of a rare identified British New Zealand War Medal. These medals were awarded to both British and Colonial soldiers who fought in the New Zealand Wars of 1845-47 and 1860-66. There were two versions of the medals one with dates and without. The medals with dates were often for British soldiers, and those without were for Colonial soldiers. This example is one without the dates. In total only 4,400 of these medals were issued, of that around 2,500 were from Colonial governments. This medal is in great condition with both the obverse and reverse maintaining their motifs with very little wear. This medal comes with it's hanger. This medal is identified on the edge to a JA. Callaghan of the 40th Regiment.
