SOLD - Rare Colt Peacemaker British Contract - In Book, W/ Factory Letter & COA

1/14/25 - This is a rare Colt Single Action Army Peacemaker British Model, chambered in .450 Eley, and manufactured in 1876. It comes with a Colt factory letter, a COA from Keith Cochran (author of "Colt Peacemaker British Model" Book), and is featured on the cover of that book. Also comes with a copy of that book. From Keith's signed COA: "British Model Colt Peacemaker No. 29,440 was used for the model for the dustjacket for my book COLT PEACEMAKER BRITISH MODEL. The last four digits of the serial number, '9440', can be read on the cylinder in the picture. This picture was then used in miniature on such pages as: 4, 6 , 100, 159, and 160. The caliber '45 CAL / B' can be seen on the triggerguard frame. The 'B' does not denote Boxer but British and as this is an 1876 shipment it would be the .450 Eley. This revolver is a 5 1/2 inch .450 Eley shipped with blue finish and walnut grips in 1876. Colt shipped 2,697 Peacemakers and 84 Flattop revolvers to their London Agency between late 1874 and about 1896. With this amount of guns shipped this is considered a scarce caliber as this is only .75% or less than one percent of production in the standard-frame model". The included Colt factory letter states this gun was shipped to Colt's Patent Fire Arms London Agency in London on August 31, 1876. The gun is all matching with British proofs on the barrel and cylinder. It is in nice condition for its age. It does, however, show noticeable finish loss and some spotty patina here and there. Nice wood grips. The bore has good rifling, but there is light spotty surface oxidation throughout. Fully functional. No FFL required.
