Description
1/20/25 - This is a scarce WW2 Griswold bag. These bags were used by U.S. Paratrooper's during the Normandy, D-day, invasion. These bags were designed to carry the M1 Carbine, the Thompson, M3 Grease Gun, and the M1 Garand. In order to fit the M1 Garand the rifle had to be broken down into its three major components, the stock, trigger housing and barrel/receiver. These bags were phased out of use during the war after complaints from paratroopers were heard about having to assemble their rifles while being under fire from advancing enemy troops. This bag is constructed out of thick OD green canvas and still has the original buckle attachment point on the back. The stitching on this bag is intact and in great condition. The back of this bag is stamped "8300-44 2650", this stamp possibly indicates that this bag was manufactured in 1944.Specifications
