Description
2/1/22 - This is a nice example of a Springfield Model 1863 musket issued to the US military during the Civil War. The lock plate is "US"-marked and has the iconic Springfield Eagle logo. The butt plate is "US" marked as well. The barrel has the proper "V", "P", and Eagle Head military acceptance proofs. There is a faint military inspection stamp on the left side of the stock, just above the trigger guard. Comes with an original ram rod. Overall, the gun has lost virtually all of its original finish. There is noticeable spotty oxidation and pitting on the lock plate, back of the barrel, and around the action. Spotty brown patina on the trigger guard. The stock has dings, dents, and scratches throughout. There are more noticeable marks on the left side near the action and a chip on the right side just below the lock plate. The bore has decent rifling, but there is minor oxidation throughout and some areas of pitting.Specifications
