Description

2/13/25 - This is a good example of a 1945 U.S. Army training manual for the M2 Sniperscope for the M1 Carbine family of rifles. The M2 Sniper scope was an early version of a night vision scope developed by the United States Military. These scopes saw limited us in combat during WW2 and Korea. These scopes relied on a large infrared emitter that was attached to the rifle and allowed the infrared sensitive material inside the scope to activate and allow the user to see in the dark. Much like how a flashlight works for the visible spectrum, infrared is invisible to the human eye. This gave soldiers an advantage on the battlefield as they could see better in the dark than the enemy. This manual is in good shape for its age, and shows standard signs of age, such as staining and darkening of the paper material. There are no tears or rips in the pages, and consists of 95 pages of knowledge, images and diagrams on the M2 Sniperscope.
