Description
3/4/25 - This is a very good example of a WW2 Paratrooper stock made by Inland. This particular stock is the rare high wood configuration. This configuration is from Inlands 1st production run of the M1A1 rifles, which was from November 1942 to October 1943. The inside of the stock at the rear of the slide opening is properly "OI" stamped for Overton-Inland, S.E. Overton was contracted to make these stocks by Inland. The rear of the stock is not "circle P" proofed, which is correct for later 1st production run rifle stocks. The wooden stock and top cover are 1st production run, however the grip is not. The grip on this stock has the P marking which indicates that this stock was rebuilt. The rebuild process was active in the later half of WW2 as well as into the 50's for the Korean War. The grip on this stock is a Richardson Contour grip which were produced by Springfield in 1945-46 only. The bottom of the grip is additionally stamped with "RI over 3" which is a correct marking for a rebuild grip. The grip additionally has a cross cannon proof on the bottom, this stamp could have been added during the rebuild, or was possibly added later on by a former owner. The cross cannons on the bottom of the grip was not a standard stamp for rebuilds. This stock additionally has been sanded and had a coating of lacquer applied. The wire collapsing stock is also in very good to great condition, and is completely functional. The wire stock also appears to have gone through the rebuild process as we suspect the leather cheek pad was replaced during this process. Overall this is a very good, rare stock that would go perfect with any early 1942-1943 Inland M1 Carbines.Specifications
