Description
5/3/23 - This is an original, early WW2 variation M35 Luftwaffe helmet. The helmet has early features such as two external decals with a droop-tailed Luftwaffe eagle and squared-edge bails. This example is all original including the original leather liner and chin strap. The shell has no dents, and shows a significant amount of the original blue-grey paint throughout. There's no evidence of repainting or tampering of any kind throughout the helmet shell and liner. The exterior has dark surface patina and normal aging throughout. The left side of the shell has an early style Luftwaffe eagle with a drooping tail. The eagle wingspan measures about 6cm, which is shorter than the later style eagle. The decal has honest wear and is about 70% intact. The German shield decal is about 50% intact. The internal shell is maker and size stamped "ET 66", which is a large and desirable size. The back brim is lot numbered "3819". There also appears to be a faint number "8" underneath this lot number. The liner band shows discoloration and oxidation throughout, but shows no evidence of tampering or replacement. The liner has surface cracking and scuffing throughout, as shown. The leather chinstrap is worn and broken, but still attached and mostly intact.Specifications
