5/18/23 - This is a nice example of a Colt Model 1878 revolver, chambered in .45 Colt. From the included factory letter, this gun has a factory-nickeled finish and was delivered to Hartley & Graham in New York on April 14, 1885. All matching. This one has a "48.MD" marking on the left side of the frame, which we assume to be some sort of unit marking. The gun itself has retained roughly half of its original nickeled finish with obvious spotty wear and spotty oxidation throughout. Some really nice fire bluing still visible on the small parts. Fitted with excellent hard rubber grips. The bore has pretty good rifling with very minor pin-pricking throughout. The cylinder is tight, and the action is smooth.
