Description
5/3/23 - This is an original WW2 production Type 97 Japanese Naval Officer's Sword. This example features a Naval Arsenal factory stamped tang and correct WW2 fittings with all-matching numbered parts (washers) on the Tsuba (hand guard). The blade is in great condition with some light signs of previous cleaning / polishing which left some very mild traces of buffing on both sides of the blade. The tempered edge is uniform and visible throughout. There are a few very small scuffs but no discoloration or dark patina anywhere on the blade. The edge has one small nick, but overall is in great condition. The fittings have typical surface patina but no major issues. Comes with an original scabbard that is missing one of the belt rings, as shown. Both metal scabbard sleeves are loose, and can be slid up and down the scabbard. The one intact scabbard ring has a period-correct chord attached, as shown.Specifications
