Description

12/20/24 - This is a great example of a WW2 Japanese wrist compass. These compasses were private purchases that Officers and soldiers of the Imperial Japanese military could purchase to supplement their standard gear. These compasses are often associated with the Imperial Japanese air force, but were also used by the army. These compasses were designed to be light weight and easily legible in low-light scenarios, as the North arrow, and South direction have luminous paint on them. This paint, most likely radium, has since lost its glowing ability. The leather on this compass is in great condition and is still pliable and strong enough to be worn.
