Description
9/7/22 - This is a nice example of a Springfield Trapdoor Model 1873 Rifle. The stock has a really nice military cartouche dated 1881 and it has the proper military acceptance proofs on the barrel. This particular configuration is often referred to as the Model 1879, because it has a modified Model 1879 rear sight. However, it reads "Model 1873" on the breech. Overall, the gun is in nice condition overall. There is not much actual finish loss, but there is noticeable spotty oxidation throughout. Most of the case-hardening on the receiver has faded, but it is still partially visible when the breech block is open. The stock is nice, but there is minor bruising and scratching throughout. The bore is shiny with strong rifling with just a few small areas of minor oxidation. The gun comes with an excellent reproduction leather sling. Also comes with a small packet of information on these Trapdoor rifles.Specifications
