Description
9/11/24 - This is a great example of a WW2 KABAR fighting knife. The knife itself is in overall great condition with almost all of the original finish on the blade. The blade does have a very mild patina, and shows no signs of being sharpened. The stacked leather disks in the handle are all intact and in great condition. Includes the original sheath with intact stitching. The leather loop on the sheath is still present but there is a tear in the leather under the button, as well as a crack in the leather on the other side of the loop. The back of the sheath does have "R.H. Sterner 127 CB" inscribed on the back. The "127 CB" is most likely referencing the 127th Naval Construction Battalion which during the war were stationed in Leyte-Samar and later in occupied Japan. These Naval Construction Battalions would go on to become known as the Seabees.Specifications
