Description
9/12/23 - This is a Springfield Model 1842 Musket, manufactured in 1848 and chambered in .69 caliber. The Model 1842 was the first US musket made at Springfield and HarperÄôs Ferry with completely interchangeable parts, and it was used in both the Mexican-American and Civil War. The metal has retained about 70% of its finish, with very fine pitting in a few areas, but nothing deep. While there is still a lot of finish remaining, the entire musket is covered in a layer of patina. The receiver is marked ÄúSpringfield 1848Äù with the US eagle. The stock looks great for its age, with no major damage. Some small dings here and there, but it is in very good condition otherwise. Bore is smooth by design, and this one does have some frost throughout. The musket comes with a socket bayonet and original ramrod.Specifications
