SOLD - Gewehr 98 Butcher Bayonet

9/22/22 - This is an original, excellent condition Gewehr 98 "butcher" bayonet. The bayonet comes with a near-mint condition scabbard that's imperial proof stamped at the mouth and on each side near the mouth. The spine of the blade, as well as the pommel have matching style imperial proof stamps. The blade is in great condition with some light surface wear but minimal discoloration and patina. The edge is unsharpened. There's a maker stamp, but this has mostly worn away and is no longer legible. We believe based on the visible letters the maker is Fichtel & Sachs. The wood handles have no cracks or chips. A very nice WW1 example.
