SOLD - DLV Flyer's Knife (101322-14)

Description

10/18/22 - This is an original early/pre Nazi era DLV Flyers Knife. These rare knives were made by the Deutscher Luftsportverband which existed as a "sport" organization since the Nazi's weren't allowed to have a military air force. The DLV disbanded in 1937 and gave way to the NSFK, so in some ways this is a pre-NSFK dagger. The dagger is in great condition with a mostly clean blade that's maker stamped by Paul Weyersberg & Co. There is some mild surface scratching from the scabbard, as well as mild speckling of oxidation near the edges and tip of the blade. The cross-graining is still evident, and the leather stopper is still intact. The hand guard and pommel have most of the nickel plating chipped / worn away, leaving the bare metal underneath. This metal is in great condition however, as shown. The leather handle is excellent with no cracks or chips. The scabbard is also excellent, with some mild surface cracking of the blue stretched leather, and a few areas of discoloration but no major issues. An original, unmarked hanger is still attached as well.
