SOLD - French M1866 Chassepot Sword Bayonet

Description

10/23/23 - This is an original French M1866 Chassepot sword bayonet with and original scabbard. The bayonet blade is in excellent condition with a clean finish throughout and no signs of misuse or sharpening throughout the blade. The base of the blade is proof stamped. The spine is maker marked in cursive for St. Etienne. The hand guard has dark surface patina throughout, along with small proof stamps and a serial number, as shown. The bronze handle is numbered on the spine / inside the rifle attachment well. Excellent condition handle. The scabbard is also serial numbered (mismatching) and has excellent original finish throughout. No dents or notable issues. A very nice pre-WW1 example.
