Description
12/9/24 - This is a great example of WW2 sterling silver Paratrooper Jump Wings from the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. We know this is from the 505th as the oval it is attached too is that of the 505th. The 505th saw a lot of action during WW2 with seven major campaigns from Italy, France, Belgium and Germany, as well as 4 regimental airborne assaults. The first combat jump that the 505th took part in was during the invasion of Italy on the 10th of July 1943. The 505th then jumped on D-Day, and actually jumped into France prior to the official "H-Hour" making the 505th among the first paratroopers to land in Normandy after the Pathfinders. The 505th then went on to see action during Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge, the campaign through Germany. Finally ending up after the war taking up occupation duties in Berlin. The 505th is still active in the U.S. Military today and has been involved in every major U.S. conflict since WW2.Specifications
