11/4/24 - This is a great example of a Camillus M4 Bayonet. The blade on this bayonet maintains almost all of it's original finish with some thinning of the finish in those areas associated with scabbard wear. The tip of this bayonet does have a small amount of damage. The handle of this bayonet is in great condition with no chips and missing leather discs. The leather handle is still tight and not loose. The scabbard of this bayonet is in great condition maintaining it's original paint, and leather cord. The mechanism for attaching this bayonet is still fully functional.
This bayonet comes with a letter from the original owner addressing its past owner. The original owner is identified as Chief Warrant Officer 3, Kirk K. Newman. The letter explains that CW3 Newman obtained this bayonet while on active duty with the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Looking up CW3 Newman, we found that he has unfortunately passed away, but served the United States of America with great distinction. Earning the Soldiers Medal, 3 Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star with "V" device, Meritorious Service medal, Joint Service Commendation medal, Army Commendation medal with "V" device, 5 Army Commendation medals, Joint Service Achievement medal, and 4 Army Achievement medals.
