12/7/22 - This is an unopened M21A1 Amber Signal Parachute Flare. The flare is still sealed in the original cardboard storage tube. These are designed to be fired from a M1 rifle. The flare hangs from a small parachute and slowly floats to the ground while illuminating a larger area. The original label with November 1944 packaging date is still intact and clearly visible.
