Description

6/8/18 - This is a rare Bulgarian luger, manufactured by DWM between 1908 and 1910. There were exactly 10,000 of these pistols ordered by Bulgaria from DWM. These are a very difficult example to obtain in original unaltered condition as they saw heavy use in both WWI and WW2; having been rebuilt at least once or twice by DWM. After WW2 most of them were captured by the Russians. This specific pistol has a dark finish, and a few other signs that the finish has been restored. There are still a few spots of bluing loss and wear on the barrel, sideplate, trigger, and takedown lever. Unfortunately, the takedown lever, sideplate, and trigger are not matching serial numbered to the frame and receiver. This could easily be from DWM after WW1 or sometime during WW2. The chamber is marked with the DWM scroll monogram and unique Bulgarian Crest on top of the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension is stamped with a single "Bulgarian Rampant Lion" acceptance/proof mark with no other acceptance proofs. The lower safety lever area is marked "FIRE" and the left side of the extractor is marked "LOADED" both in Cyrillic lettering.  The pistol frame has the distinctive Bulgarian lanyard loop on the bottom of the rear grip strap. The grips are eagle/135 proofed.
