SOLD - "Wounded" 1944 Walther P.38 Rig - With Capture Papers & Extras

12/3/21 - This is a very nice example of 1944 Walther P.38 that comes with a fascinating assembly! first of all, the gun is all matching and has the proper "Eagle 359" Nazi military acceptance proofs throughout. It comes as a rig with a worn 1944-dated holster and a period-correct Walther magazine. The most interesting thing about this gun is that the trigger guard has been "wounded" - it appears that either a bullet or piece of shrapnel hit it. It is still fully functional. The gun comes with a copy of the original bring-back paperwork. The bring-back paperwork names the gun by serial number and the camera that came with it as well. This assembly also includes some mementos the veteran brought back with the gun. These items include an early SA belt buckle, Cross of Lorraine Division booklet with signatures, Cross of Lorraine hand-made beaded pouch, hand-made scrimshaw bracelet, small Nazi pennant, Nazi armband, WW1 iron cross, 1937 Flakabt pin, US collar tab, one green Nazi breast eagle, one small Nazi sleeve patch, a couple of Reichs coins, and one 1939 combat medal. This veteran was in the 79th "Cross of Lorraine" Division, which would explain some of the items. The gun itself has retained about 90% of its original finish. There is minor spotty wear concentrated around the high edges of the slide, around the muzzle, and on the barrel through the ejection port. Some very minor thinning on the front strap. Some tiny dots of discoloration on the right side of the slide. Comes with excellent reddish period-correct grips. The bore is shiny with very strong rifling and some minor freckling here and there. De-cocker is functional.
