Description
1/26/22 - This is a nice example of a rare Springfield Armory Model 1911 issued to the US military in 1917. Estimated production is about 30,000. This one is all correct and has the proper Springfield barrel. The frame is marked "United States Property", the slide and frame have military flaming bomb proofs, and the right side of the slide has the appropriate Springfield Eagle logo. The gun has retained roughly 85% of its original finish. Most of the finish loss is on the slide and around the muzzle. While there isn't a ton of actual finish loss, there is noticeable spotty oxidation throughout (mostly on the slide) and heavy brown patina on the grip straps. An area of light scratching on the left side of the slide. Comes with fairly worn wood grips and a period-correct two-tone magazine. The rifling in the bore is fairly worn, and there is pin-pricking throughout. NOTE: The hold-open is weak and does not work very well.Specifications
