Description
1/27/22 - This is a nice example of a Japanese Type 26 revolver rig. The Type 26 or Model 26 "hammerless" revolver was the first modern revolver adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army. It was developed at the Koishikawa Arsenal and is named for its year of adoption in the Japanese dating system (the 26th year of the reign of the Meiji emperor, i.e., 1893). The revolver saw action in conflicts including the Russo-Japanese War, World War I and World War II. This particular revolver has an early serial number. It comes as a rig with an excellent period-correct leather holster that has some kanji writing on the inside of the top flap. The gun has retained about 90% of its finish. The majority of the wear is around the muzzle and on the cylinder. There is also some minor thinning and light patina on the grip straps. There are areas of very minor freckling on both sides of the frame. Comes with excellent period-correct wood grips. The bore is mint.Specifications
