1898 Imperial Russian Dragoon Sword - Unit Marked

9/14/26 - For sale is an enlisted Dragoon sword from Imperial Russia which bears a unit mark on the cross guard. This Dragoon comes with the original, matching scabbard. The scabbard and ricasso are both dated 1898. The cross guard also bears the maker's mark and manufacturing year. The ricasso also has numerous stamps including the date and maker's mark. The wooden grip is in great shape with no sign of any chipping or cracking. The brass hand guard and cross guard are in good shape with a beautiful patina and scarce impact and handling marks present. The blade is in good shape with no bending or warping. The edge of the blade does have multiple nicks running the length of it which appear to be from use. The blade also has some marks towards the edge that appear to be from the blade being previously sharpened and has patina throughout. The scabbard is in fair shape with a majority of its original coating still present, though there are spots of missing and peeling wrap towards the bottom of the scabbard exposing the wood underneath. The top section of the scabbard coating holds what appears to be an inspection proof. The brass fittings on the scabbard have a wonderful patina with no signs of any breaks or functional damage. The top ring on the scabbard bears a "15" stamp which matches the unit mark on the cross guard.
