Description

5/2/17 - This is a hard to find 1906 Navy - an early 1st issue with altered safety, which refers to the safety lever not being in the original configuration.   It is guaranteed to be all original finish and an authentic Navy.   It has the safety grip handle, and no chamber date, making it the 1906 variation.  I would rate the finish to be at about 94-96% with just a few spots of oxidation particularly on the front grip strap.   This is of course common with Navy guns as they spent time in salt air.   The back strap is Navy Property marked WW 5259.  (Stands for WW1 era Navy Yard at Wilhelmshaven)   Clearly the marking is original to the gun.    It has all matching serial numbers.   The grips look original, however, unmarked.   The magazine is a Navy proofed magazine with the concentric circles, but is numbered to a different gun.   Minor halos on the serial under the barrel just verifies that the gun has not been refinished.   Just an honest example of a pretty rare Navy luger.   Most ended up in the bottom of the Atlantic.
