SOLD - 1908 Commercial/Navy Luger

11/25/20 - This is an interesting Navy-style DWM Luger made from a mix-and-matching of different luger parts. First of all, the frame is a rare 1908 Commercial DWM frame. The barrel and receiver are Navy-marked and correct for a Navy luger. The toggle is marked DWM. And the rear toggle link is Simson, as evidenced by the Simson "Eagle 6" proof. Because of the mismatched parts, it does not have have the adjustable Navy-style rear sight or stock lug. The barrel also sticks out a little further than it is supposed to because the receiver is for the Navy long frame and frame is a commercial short frame, but the gun is functional. The gun has retained about 97% of its bluing. There is minor muzzle wear, wear on the high edges of the frame (especially right side), pin-pricking on the straps, and a series of small dings on the right side of the frame. It comes with excellent wood grips and a chipped WW1-era magazine. The bore has strong rifling with very minor pitting throughout.
