Description
8/18/26 - This is a nice example of an early Colt Model 1911 from 1914. There is a "1 CAV NY 27" unit marking on the front strap, indicating this gun was issued to the New York National Guard. Included is a Colt factory letter that indicates this gun was shipped to an Adjutant General of the State of New York on March 26, 1914. The gun is all correct and has retained roughly 70% of its original high polish bluing. There is honest wear and finish loss throughout, concentrated mostly on the front half of the slide, around the high edges in general, and on the grip straps. Areas of spotty patina on much of the gun, but there is more noticeable spotty oxidation on the front half of the slide. Fitted with period-correct wood grips (some honest wear and rounding around the edges) and comes with a lanyard loop magazine (the number "14" is written in marker on the bottom). The bore has good rifling, but there is light frosting throughout.
