7/31/25 - This is a nice example of an Amberg Gewehr 98 rifle issued to the Imperial German military in 1915. The gun is entirely matching (including the stock). It has the proper Imperial military proofs throughout. No import marks. It is rare to find an all-matching example with no import marks these days! The gun's original finish rates roughly 80%. There is general high edge wear, thinning on the receiver, some wear on the underside of the trigger guard, and some areas of brown patina, most noticeable on the receiver. Spotty oxidation on the butt plate. The wood stock is numbered to match. There is no major damage, but there is an area of noticeable wear on the underside of the butt stock. The bore shows good rifling, but there is light pin-pricking throughout. Painted front sight.
