SOLD - Early 1915 BSA SHT LE Mk III Rifle

6/12/23 - This is an original WW1 era production, early BSA model SHT LE Mark III rifle. This example features all original WW1 era components, including the magazine cutoff, volley sight, adjustable rear sight, and stock. The rear sight and stock are matching numbered, but the rear sight has another serial number that's crossed out, and the stamped serial number is one digit off (we're guessing this is a factory error). All other numbered parts are matching and correct. The metal rates at about 90% overall condition with some light speckling and natural surface patina throughout the metal, but no major areas of finish loss or significant rust or pitting. The stock is in great condition with all original wood and no major cracks or chips. The underside of the stock (near the muzzle) is serial numbered with another serial number underneath (this stamp looks to be stamped over with the current serial number, and reads 7428). The underside of the wrist has British proofs, and there's a proof stamp near the circular metal disc in the left side of the stock (volley sight). The buttstock also still contains the original brass disc. The volley sight is a rare early feature that was discontinued in 1915, making this example highly desirable. The bore is excellent and clean with strong rifling and some very light use wear and surface patina in the grooves.
