Description
8/31/26 - This is a rare and desirable 1916 DWM Luger with Deaths Head unit mark over the chamber. The gun was originally made in 1916 and has "Crown N" proofs. The side plate, rear toggle pin, and firing pin are mismatched. The barrel and hold open are un-numbered. These were most likely reworked during the Weimar period as Mauser production had not ramped up yet. The Deaths Head marking is thought to be like a unit mark that tank crews and / or the Freikorps Units were known to use. Also, in the K98 world, the Nazi rework stamp and similar deaths Head marking is attributed to early SS units. There is no real consensus on the meaning of this markings, so we will just present this as a Rare Deaths Head marked luger of unknown origin. Fore more information on this variation, visit the links below. This one has lost most of its finish with spotty wear and splotchy discoloration throughout. There are areas of noticeable heavy pitting, probably most extreme on the right side of the frame. The grips are noticeably worn with a chip on the left side - both are mismatched to the gun. Comes with a wood-bottom magazine - the base is chipped and cracked with a metal pin. The bore has good rifling with just light pin-pricking throughout.
