2/28/22 - This is a nice example of a Springfield Krag Model 1898 issued to the US military in 1903. The stock is very faintly dated 1903 on the left side, has a proper military inspection stamp, and a proper "P" proof on the wrist. Overall, the gun is in nice condition. It has lost much of its original bluing, most obvious on the receiver. There is spotty oxidation along the whole barrel. Some spotty, scratchy wear on the barrel bands and sides of the receiver. Some minor pin-pricking on the trigger guard. The stock is excellent with only a few minor dings and scratches here and there. The markings are very faint, so it was likely lightly sanded. The bore has strong rifling, but there are some areas of minor pitting around the muzzle end.
