SOLD - 1917 DWM Navy Rework Luger - Police

4/18/19 - This is unique Navy re-worked Luger. The gun was re-worked for the Police in the Weimar period and put together from leftover DWM and Simson parts. All of the numbers on the gun are matching including the magazine, however, it was most certainly refinished and renumbered at the time of the re-work. The bluing is excellent, 95-97%. Most of the wear is in the form of thinning on the straps and some high-edge wear. Still visible is the 1917 date on the top of the receiver and there are also the WW1 Navy proof marks on the left of the receiver. The barrel was swapped from 6 inch to 4 inch. It is not numbered, but it does have Weimar rework proofs including "TP" and "Eagle 35". The sideplate has a matching number on the bottom but also has an "asterisk K" on the side - one can assume this is a re-work mark. The toggle is matching and has a Navy proof. The right grip is Simson "Eagle 6" proofed and the left grip looks to be S/42 marked. However, the grips are not numbered and there is a small chip on the top right of the left grip panel. There is a Police sear safety added, along with a 1920 re-work mark. The nickel mag is matching and numbered in the police style. The bore is shiny bright, and excellent rifling, 9.5/10. C&R eligible.
