Description

1/6/21 - This is a nice example of a WW1 1917 Suhl Gewehr 98 that was reworked and reissued for use during WW2. From the proof marks, it was reworked at Spandau. It was likely then issued to the Waffen SS, as they were issued most of these leftover WW1 guns. There are Nazi proofs throughout. It is all matching and generally in very nice condition. There is general thinning on the metal parts and some spotty oxidation here and there. When it was reworked, the butt plate was replaced with a K98 butt plate and was numbered to match. The stock is excellent and matching - just minor handling marks throughout and a noticeable scratch on the left side of the butt stock. The bore is very nice - shiny with strong rifling with minor pin-pricking throughout.
