Description
7/20/26 - This is a very nice WWI-production Luger holster, manufactured in 1917 by Meyer & Abitzsch, a fairly uncommon maker. The front of the holster features a crisply stamped date and manufacturer's stamp. The leather is in great overall condition, the external leather remains firm yet pliable, while exhibiting scattered signs of minor aging and light surface scuffing throughout it's exterior. The original linen stitching is mostly excellent and almost entirely intact, save for a minor loose thread at the top of the closure strap. The belt loops show slight wrinkling from age and/or moisture exposure, and the integral magazine pouch is slightly stretched at the top with mild wrinkling. The interior leather rates as very good with a couple of localized wear patches from sidearm contact, and a tiny ding is visible on the upper left side of the holster body slightly above the maker-mark line. Below the belt loops, close inspection reveals a couple of tiny holes beneath one loop. It's unclear if the loop was seamlessly repositioned during its service life using matching, period-correct stitching or if the holes were created independently without repositioning, this is impossible to determine. However, if it was repaired, the work was performed by a master and is nearly imperceptible.
