Description

3/11/22 - This is an excellent example of a Mauser Banner Luger issued to the Nazi police force in 1939. The gun is all matching, has the proper police "Eagle L" proof, and has an added police sear safety. It comes as a rig with a very nice 1936-dated Army holster and a period-correct but mismatched military-marked magazine. The gun comes with a signed letter (both a typed and handwritten copy) from the seller of this gun, explaining the chain of custody. It is written by the son of the man who acquired it from the GI who captured this gun, Col. Garret Whitehead. He lists the gun by serial number and references this 1936-dated holster. The gun has retained about 96% of its original finish. There is minor thinning on the straps, where there is also some light freckling. There are areas of very minor wear on the side plate, left side of the slide, and around the muzzle. An area of very light pin-pricking on the right side of the barrel. Comes with un-numbered wood grips that have noticeable dings and bruises throughout. The bore is shiny with very strong rifling and a few areas of very light freckling.
