Description
1/7/26 - This is a very nice example of a "42 Code" Mauser Luger issued to the Nazi military in 1940. It comes fitted with rare reddish plastic Krieghoff grips. The book on Mauser Lugers indicates that a very small set of 1940 lugers have these grips on them from the factory. It is assumed that they experimented with the HK grips as an option before they started making their own black plastic grips. Page 210 of the book indicates that these grips are found in the G to K blocks, so the "i" block is right in the middle of this group of 1940 Lugers. This one is all matching and "Eagle 655" proofed. It comes with a 1937-dated holster, an "Eagle 655" tool, a mismatched "Eagle 655" magazine, and a mismatched police arsenal-numbered magazine. The gun's original finish rates about 94% with general high edge wear, muzzle wear, a light streak of wear on the left side of the barrel, and some very light spotty wear on the grip straps. The bore is mostly shiny with strong rifling, but there is some very light freckling in the grooves.
