Description

8/10/26 - This is a very nice example of a rare and intriguing Mauser Luger dated 1940 on the chamber. It is all matching with the proper "Eagle 655" military acceptance proofs, indicating it was issued to the Nazi military. This gun has some very interesting characteristics - there is a "42" armorers code to the left of the serial number on the slide. You'll also notice that the factory code on the toggle is "byf", which could only be for a 1941 or 1942 Luger. Yet all of the parts are matching and do not appear to be re-numbered. So this leads us to believe that this is an armorers Luger, put together from leftover parts and numbered at the factory to match. There's more information on this variation on Pg 261 of Hallock's Book and Pg 22 of Jan Still's Axis Pistols. Often referred to out of sequence guns as they were assembled after the discontinuation of Lugers at the Mauser factory. It has retained about 96% of its original bluing with very minor high edge wear / muzzle wear. While there is very little actual finish loss, there is light spotty discoloration on the grip straps. Fitted with excellent matching-numbered and "Eagle 655" proofed wood grips. Comes with a blank aluminum bottom magazine. The bore has great rifling, but there is noticeable spotty oxidation throughout. Shiny otherwise.
