Description
10/14/26 - This is a unique example of 15 rounds of 8mm Nambu ammunition that was repacked in September of 1942, which is designated by the "17 9" date ink stamp on the wrap. The "17" in the date correlates to Showa 17, or the 17th year of Emperor Showa's reign, which began in 1926. During WWII, loose or reinspected ammunition was "repacked" into new paper or cardboard packages and re-stamped after inspection. Since a majority of Japanese ammunition was only documented on the ammunition itself, these packages were stamped, dated, and often have handwritten kanji on them to designate the contents. Despite some of the ends of the paper packaging showing some tears from the ammunition, all rounds are present within the packaging and the stamps and writing on the wrapper have remained in excellent condition. Overall, this is a very nice example of some WWII-era repacked 8mm Nambu ammo.
