Description
10/1/25 - This is an excellent example of a Soviet Makarov pistol from 1983. It is all matching, including both magazines. Makarov pistols had been produced in Russia in their original configuration since late 1950s with 1983 being the last year of production for the first variation guns. Very similar to Walther PP mechanically, it was chambered for a very potent Makarov 9x18mm caliber, which was closer to 9mm Para. The gun was very robust in construction in order to allow for a simple blowback design to handle such a potent load. At the same time, the gun was fairly light with excellent ergonomics. Used for many years by Soviet military and police, many of these guns were imported into US in the 80s. This one shows signs of being import marked and having the mark removed/blued over. This one comes as a rig with two original matching-numbered magazines, cleaning rod, and a minty 1983-dated leather holster. The gun shows very little actual finish loss, but there is general high edge wear and some areas of minor discoloration in the finish here and there. Excellent reddish phenolic grip. Mint bore.
