SOLD - Japanese Type 26 Revolver Rig - With Provenance

5/4/22 - This is a very example of a Japanese Type 26 revolver. The Type 26 or Model 26 "hammerless" revolver was the first modern revolver adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army. It was developed at the Koishikawa Arsenal and is named for its year of adoption in the Japanese dating system (the 26th year of the reign of the Meiji emperor, i.e., 1893). The revolver saw action in conflicts including the Russo-Japanese War, World War I and World War II. This particular gun comes as a rig with a cleaning rod and a period-correct leather shoulder holster. Written on the side of the holster is the name "Parkinson". The previous owner purchased this gun directly from the family of the vet who captured this gun in WW2. The family was able to provide a photo of the US Marine, Michael A Parkinson, and a copy of his military records. The gun itself has retained about 95% of its original finish. While there isn't much actual finish loss, there are areas of spotty oxidation and tiny pitting on the barrel, on the cylinder, on the left side of the frame, and on the grip straps. Comes with nice period-correct wood grips. Minty bore. The action is very smooth.
