Description
11/18/22 - This is a nice example of a Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903 rifle that was originally issued to the US military in 1918 and later reworked for use during WW2. This particular gun has some US Marine Corps attributes, such as the punch next to the serial number on the receiver, hatcher hole on the left side of the receiver, and a February 1944-dated USMC barrel. However, there has been much debate in the collector community as to the authenticity of these barrels and markings. So we cannot say for sure that this is a USMC-issued gun. In any case, the gun has been parkerized, and there is very little actual finish loss. There are some minor scuffs on the receiver and floor plate / trigger group and some minor wear around the outer edges of the butt plate. Thinning on the rear barrel band (likely replaced). The wood stock has a very faint cross-canon cartouche near the left side of the receiver and a "3371" number on the right side of the butt stock. There is no major damage to the stock, but there are tiny dings and scratches throughout and a few tiny chips around the wrist. Mint bore. Comes with a front sight hood.Specifications
