Description

12/6/22 - This is a very nice example of a Spanish Star Model B issued to the German Navy during WW2. It falls in an accepted serial range of 242003-244502 that went to the Navy, one of only 6,500. It is all matching and has the proper "Waffen D20" Nazi military acceptance proof on the right side of the tang. The firm of Star Bonifacio Echeverria SA, located in Eibar, Spain, originated in 1905 but the factory was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). It was rebuilt adjacent to the original site, and during WW2 it supplied about 25,000 pistols to the German Army in France. It has retained about 95% of its original high polish finish. There is minor muzzle wear, very minor wear on the high edges of the slide, and some minor spotty wear and pin-pricking on the front strap. Some splotchy discoloration on the left side of the frame. Very nice case-hardening on the hammer. Fitted with slightly worn period-correct wood grips and one proper magazine. The bore has good rifling with minor pin-pricking throughout.
