Description
12/23/22 - This is a nice example of a Springfield Model 1911 issued to the US military in 1917. This pistol was purchased by our consignor from the family of the veteran who brought it home from WW1. Included with the pistol are some copies of his documents and some copies of photos of the veteran, Captain James M Page. Also included is his overseas cap, his WW1 medal, and a magazine pouch found with his belongings. The consignor questioned the family about what unit he served with, but they couldn't find any information. They wanted the firearm to end up with someone who would appreciate it. The gun itself is all correct - small parts are "S" marked with Springfield barrel. It has retained roughly 85% of its original finish with spotty wear throughout and some light scratches on the left side - battle-used condition. The grips are proper, and the left panel has been slightly charred. Unfortunately, the magazine is a WW2-era replacement. The bore has decent rifling with minor pin-pricking throughout.Specifications
