Description

1/18/23 - This is an excellent example of a Mauser Model 1891 rifle manufactured by the Ludwig Loewe Company of Berlin in the early 1890's for the Argentine government. It is all matching except for the rear sight, which is numbered "02" - it's possible this is just a factory error. The area of the receiver over the chamber has been ground down to remove Argentine crest, as standard when sold out of service. No import marks. The gun has retained most of its original bluing with some finish loss on the receiver (where the crest was ground) and some thinning and areas of very light freckling on the magazine. Original fire-bluing on the follower and bolt release. Stock is matching-numbered and in excellent condition with just minor bruising here and there. It appears a very thin layer of lacquer was applied to the wood. Excellent bore with strong rifling. The gun comes with its original matching-numbered cleaning rod.
