Description

2/17/23 - This is a Walther PP marked PDM for the Munich Police Department (Polizei Direktion Munchen) from 1935 when Himmler was the chief of Police in that city. There were about 1,800 PDM PP's produced from 1934-1936. Most were in the 811xxx range and this one is 811805. The finish on this pistol is original and covers about 80% of the pistol with the majority of the wear being on the right side of the slide and some on the front strap. There's also finish loss near the muzzle on the right side of the pistol, and mild thinning from age and general use on the back strap. There is a good amount of original fire blue on the safety lever. The PDM was for some reason ordered for the Police with several very unique features making this variation very collectible. It has the fluted barrel which added strength and early an early 90 degree safety. It also has the bottom release magazine which typically is only found on the 9mm guns, but in this case it is bottom release on a 7.65 caliber pistol. The correct finger extension magazine should have NO notch in it but on this gun it has a wartime notched magazine. While this is period correct, it is not a correct PDM magazine, which should be bottom release. The slide and frame are matching and the bore is great with strong rifling and some mild patina within the grooves. The PDM 805 property marking is on the left side of the frame, as shown.
