Description

3/6/23 - This is a nice example of a Mauser Model 1914, chambered in 7.65mm. It is all matching except for the barrel. It is double "Crown U" proofed and has a "GP 17" marking on the left side of the slide. It is believed that this represents an inventory number for the "Gemeentepolitie" or Dutch Municipal Police before 1940. Other examples of these guns have also been observed with the same lanyard loop cutout on the spine of the grip - there is no known explanation for this feature. We believe that at least the frame has been refinished on this one. In any case, there is just some very minor thinning on the front strap, minor wear around the muzzle and high edges, and a few small dots of discoloration on the left side of the slide. The grip is fairly worn. Comes with one post-war magazine. The bore has good rifling with minor frosting and pin-pricking throughout.
