Description

4/18/24 - This is an Arisaka Type 38 rifle issued to the Japanese military during WW2. Made at the Kokura Arsenal. The gun and bolt are mismatched, but it does have a fully intact Imperial mum stamp on the receiver. This particular gun comes in its original wooden shipping crate addressed from a Robert G. Butts to a Mr. Bud Wright Pennsylvania. It also comes with an original copy of the capture paperwork - it lists Robert Butts by name and the matching serial number of this gun. It also comes with an original bayonet with scabbard (not matching) and an original dust cover (not matching). There is also a piece of original trench art - a .30-06 bullet engraved with "Gilberts 1944". The gun itself has retained most of its finish with some wear on the bolt release. While there is very little actual finish loss, there is heavy brown patina under the finish and pin-pricking throughout. Some pitting on the bolt release. There is noticeable bruising and scratching on all of the wood furniture and some noticeable gouges / holes in the wood on the left side of the stock. The bore has some rifling left, but there is heavy oxidation throughout.
