4/20/23 - This is an excellent example of an original Springfield Model 1898 Krag Carbine issued to the US military in 1898. It is "US" Property marked and has a military cartouche and 1898 date on the left side of the stock. Original saddle ring is intact. It has retained about 90% of its original finish. The majority of the finish loss is on the trigger guard, but there is also minor wear around the muzzle and some light spotty wear on the barrel band. Some areas of light freckling here and there, most noticeable on the barrel band and on the magazine. Spotty brown patina on the butt plate, and some patina on the saddle ring. Very nice wood stock, but there are a couple of mild gouges here and there and a hairline crack on the left side of the butt stock. Very nice bore with great rifling, but there is very minor pin-pricking throughout.
