SOLD - Spanish Contract Mauser Model 1893 Rifle

6/21/23 - This is a Spanish American War production Mauser model 1893 Spanish Contract Rifle. This example is early production, as indicated by the date stamp under the Spanish Royal Crest on the receiver, 1894. Manufactured by Ludwig Loewe under Mauser contract. The rifle has all matching numbered parts and is in very good condition with light, natural patina throughout. We rate the finish around 60% although most of the finish is tarnished with brown patina. There is no rust or pitting however, nor any corroded areas of metal. The rear sight is missing the top screw, but this doesn't seem to affect fit or function of the sight or sight adjustment. The stock is excellent, with evidence of light sanding throughout but no cracks or chips in the wood. The left side of the buttstock still shows the original cartouche stamp of the Royal Crest with date of 1894 underneath. Mechanically sound with a good bore that rates 7/10 overall. The bore has strong rifling but there's surface patina and mild wear throughout - signs of honest use and aging but no major issues. This is an antique, so no FFL required.
