Description

6/6/23 - This is an excellent example of a scarce 1921-dated DWM Luger issued to the German police force during the Weimar Era. It is all matching and has Weimar-era police proofs on the right side of the slide. It has an added police sear safety and an "S.D. VII. 234." police unit marking on the front strap. Comes with two Simson magazines that match each other but not the gun. We acquired this gun from the son of Rudolph Lea, WW2 Veteran and author of the book "Topsy's GI Journey". Rudolph captured this gun during WW2 and brought it home. He tells the story of this very pistol in his book - we've copied the relevant pages and will include them with the gun. The gun itself has retained about 95% of its original finish with very minor wear around the muzzle and on some of the high edges. While there is very little actual finish loss, there is dulling and brown patina on the grip straps, tiny handling marks and scratches here and there, and some small areas of oxidation on the side plate and around the muzzle. Fitted with nice un-numbered wood grips - the left panel has an "S/42" armorers replacement marking. The bore has good rifling with minor frosting.
